Dr. James Malone, D.O.
Chief Medical Director
Dr. James Malone is the Chief Medical Director for Stonerise’s 17 transitional and skilled nursing care centers. In his role, he is responsible for leading treatment and care for patients and their families through the patient’s health journey. Dr. Malone works in coordination with 13 other medical directors within the Stonerise Network to provide on-site care and case management in collaboration with center clinicians and patients’ primary care physicians. He is passionate about providing the highest quality care possible.
Dr. Malone is a board-certified physician with an extensive background in geriatric care. He formerly served as medical director with Genesis for 20 years and as Geriatrics Director for United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia. For 27 years, he has served patients in north central West Virginia as a family physician with United Hospital Center and WVU Medicine.
Dr. Malone received his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University and earned his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
Originally from West Virginia, Dr. Malone and his wife Lesli share two children. He enjoys snow skiing, listening to music, running and cheering on the Mountaineers. He is very active in the medical community, is a member of the American Osteopathic Society and American Academy of Family Practitioners, and serves on the board of Rural Health Education Partners, where he actively mentors medical students and family practice residents.
